Valentine's day will be here before we know it! It's a great time to talk about God's un-ending love for His children. So many youth and adults feel like there is no way God can love them because of things they have done in their lives, but we need to help them to understand that God always loves us even when we do wrong but is willing to forgive us of our sins. Let's see if I can find a few stories from the Bible for you to teach to your youth so they can always look at these examples of God's everlasting love.

The Woman at the Well.
The Samaritan women at the well is a great story of God's unending love for His children. Jesus asks the women for a drink but she tells Him that He would not talk to her if He knew who she was. But Jesus knew everything about her, and said if she would ask Him for a drink that He would give her living water. He knew she had multiple husbands and was currently living with a man she was not married to. Even though she had never met Him before, He told her all she had done and yet He still offered her living water. He still offered her his love. Jesus knows every sin we commit but He still loves us and wants us to have eternal life. No person is perfect, that's why God sent His sinless Son to be the perfect sacrifice. If we were all living perfect then there would not have been a need for such a sacrifice. But we all sin and we all need to ask for God's forgiveness daily. We may do our best but we fall to our weaknesses still. If you think you are the only one who fails God often, think again. You are not in this alone and God is a forgiving God. Thought to ponder: The women had never spoke to Jesus but He still knew about all her sins. God already knows your sins even if you haven't spoke to Him about them. But He is still willing to give you forgiveness and set you free from your sins if you would only ask Him. Teaching your youth to "love thy neighbor"
Nineveh.
Nineveh was a city full of of hateful people. They were so cruel that when God asked His trusted servant Jonah to go preach to them, he tried to refuse and run the other way! Nineveh was so scary that Jonah chose to disobey God before going there. But God insisted on helping the people of Nineveh even though they were living in so much sin. And even with Jonah directly disobeying God, He still wanted Jonah to preach the Word to the people. The people of this city was full of murderers, liars, and thieves. But God still loved them and wanted to offer them forgiveness and joy. The people of Nineveh heard what Jonah had to say and did repent of their sins. Jonah was sure there was no hope for them because they were such horrible people. A man who knew God's love and power still doubted the sinful people would except God. Sometimes christians today will loose sight of how amazing God's love is for every person. He loves ALL His children, but He does hate the sin. He wants christians to love everyone as well. Love the sinner, hate the sin. This story is full of God's love from a great prophet all the way to hateful criminals. God loves us all and wants us to except Him into our hearts so we may have eternal life. Thought to ponder: How many people are living in sin and unaware of God's love for them? Is there someone you know is living in so much sin that you don't even bother telling them about God's love that can free them from sin? No one is beyond God's helping.
Saul becoming Paul
I will forever be inspired by the story of Paul. You think you have done terrible things that is simply unforgivable? You think God won't love you because you have sinned to much? Paul watched the coats for the people as they were stoning Stephen. Paul later jailed people simply because they were christians and many of them were then sentenced to death. Ananias was requested by God to go to Damascus to help Paul. Of course He was terrified to help such a cruel man, this man had put away many christians and Ananias did not wish to be jailed and possibly put to death as well. But Ananias was very faithful to God and he did as he was told. He found Paul unable to see and so he laid his hands on his eyes and Paul's sight was restored. By this time Paul knew he needed to repent and ask God into his heart. Paul then went on to be one of the greatest christians in the Bible and lead many souls to the Lord. Paul did terrible things in His life and had pure hate for christians, but God still loved him and used him in mighty ways. Paul changed from His sinful life and dedicated his life to helping others find Christ. Now because of His faith, he is able to spend forever in eternity feeling nothing but peace and joy. Thought to ponder: Do you think your sin is worse than Paul's? Do you think your sin is way worse than going around taking people from their families and putting them in jail and probably sentencing them to death just because they loved Jesus? Christians feared this man, but God still loved him and used him to further the kingdom of Heaven. God can take all our broken pieces and build us into something greater.
God is the best valentine we could ever have. He loves us even though we fail Him constantly. We all have our problems but God is still right there for us whenever we need Him. He will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). It breaks His heart to see us living in sin but He still willing to forgive us at any moment, we just need to ask Him. God's love will never fail you so please give God a chance and ask Him into your heart, because you are loved more than you know.

Definitely agree that Valentines is not a time for showering kids with gifts. It's about telling everyone around us how much we love and appreciate them. And reminding everyone of God's love for us! We should challenge our kids (and ourselves) to use this time of year to do random acts of love for someone we love without expecting anything in return ❤
